Forge Fire

I wasn’t going to do a Mars enters Capricorn post. But given my next few posts, I realise I should have!

Mars in Capricorn is craftsmanship. Mars is the energy, drive, and action to do something, Capricorn is the discipline, stamina, and focus to achieve it. Military acumen and blacksmithing are perfect examples.

WWII had Mars at 24 degrees of Capricorn, in a grand trine with Uranus in Taurus (as we have) and Neptune in Virgo. I don’t want to overemphasize this placement for war, because certainly many have taken place without this configuration, and Mars does, after all, come around nearly every two years. However, the temptation to go forth and conquer is clearly on the horizon, as we are now witnessing with Russia and Ukraine. Napoleon Bonaparte had Mars in exacting Virgo in close trine to Pluto in Capricorn. A combination bound to give ambition, focus, and calculated dare-all.

This is incredibly masculine energy (albeit in a feminine sign), it is the hunter, conqueror, penetrative, competitive, pushy; both the positives and the negatives associated with these things. There is clarity and precision, there is steadfastness and stamina.

If you are a tarot buff, you might be familiar with the Sola-Busca tarot, which exudes Mars-Saturn energy and themes; military might and sexual drive. It is full of soldiers (Mars) and dragons (Saturn). And there is a wonderful book on the subject called The Game of Saturn by Peter Mark Adams. If you own this deck you could set some time aside to get it out and use it, reflecting on how its energies are on point this month.

What to do with this energy? Pursue goals actively, strategy is good but only when implemented. Stand your ground and defend your territory or aim to conquer. A conjunction with Pluto is just around the corner, so be warned; power struggles ensue, the intensity will wrack up, the price will be high, depths will be plumbed.
